How this site makes money

SCorp Tax Calculator is free to use and does not require an account. We keep it free two ways: display advertising, and partner (affiliate) links to a small number of software providers.

If you click a partner link and later sign up with that provider, we may receive a commission. You are never charged more because of it. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had typed the provider's address into your browser directly.

Which links are partner links

Any outbound link on this site that begins with /go/ is a partner link. Every one of them is also marked in the page's HTML with rel="sponsored", which is the attribute Google asks publishers to use for paid or commissioned links.

Providers we currently link to, or intend to link to, include payroll software, business formation and registered agent services, and bookkeeping services aimed at S-Corp owners.

What commissions do not affect

  • They do not affect the calculator. The tax math runs entirely in your browser using published IRS figures, and no partner has any input into it.
  • They do not affect the payroll cost we assume. That figure is yours to set, and we default it to a mid-market number rather than any particular provider's price.
  • They do not buy placement. We do not accept payment for a recommendation, and we do not rank providers by what they pay.

Our conflict of interest, stated plainly

We earn more when a visitor elects S-Corp status and buys payroll software. That is a real incentive to overstate S-Corp savings, and plenty of sites do exactly that. We have tried to work against it: the calculator counts the employer half of payroll tax and your payroll administration cost as real expenses, and it will tell you outright when an S-Corp election would cost you more than it saves. If you find a case where our numbers look optimistic, tell us and we will correct it.

This is not tax advice

Nothing here is legal, tax, or financial advice, and we are not a licensed CPA firm. The calculator produces estimates from simplified federal logic and ignores state taxes, credits, and your particular circumstances. Talk to a licensed tax professional before electing S-Corp status.
